Another update to my Whirlpool/Indesit story

It would appear Whirlpool is still in the running to buy Fineldo's majority stake in Indesit, the Italian home appliances company that sponsors Arsenal Football Club.

Readers might recall I published a piece back in March reporting that Whirlpool was preparing a EURO 2.3 billion takeover bid for Indesit.

Here is the link to that piece: http://betaville123.blogspot.co.uk/2014/03/whirlpool-prepares-takeover-of-arsenal.html

Well, Italian news organisation Ansa this morning reported that Whirlpool is vying with Electrolux and a Chinese group called Sichuan Changhong Electric alongside its subsidiary Meiling in the final stages of the auction for Fineldo's stake.

Here is a link to the Ansa piece: http://www.ansa.it/marche/notizie/2014/06/16/indesit-3-in-corsa-per-partnersu-dossier-usa-svezia-cina_23bf2776-79da-48eb-b370-74d1459903db.html

It's not clear who will end up winning the auction for Indesit but some readers tell me that Electrolux would be able to pay the best price because it can generate the most synergies from a combination with the Italian company.
