Tuesday review

I thought I would do a little newspaper review on a Tuesday as there were plenty of brilliant stories knocking about in the British business sections today.

First of, I would just like to congratulate my old mate Graham "Ruddy" Ruddick - a former colleague from my time at The Daily Telegraph and one of the nicest chaps in financial journalism - for landing a story about healthcare group Four Seasons of the front page of the main book, yes the main book, of The Guardian. Here is a link to Graham's piece:

Moving on, Ben Marlow - another old colleague from time at Mergermarket.com in the early noughties - had a truly intriguing story about a mystery Swiss fund's (called IM 1872) bid for premier league football club Aston Villa on the front page of The Daily Telegraph's business section. Here is a link:

And finally, the Kleinmanator - a former boss/colleague from my days at The Sunday Telegraph - over at Sky News had a great scoop about US-based LabCorp submitting a £700 million takeover bid for LGC, the UK Government chemist. Here is a link to Kleinman's piece:

Now, some readers might not recall that back in August the Mail on Sunday's business section splashed on my tale about how Bridgepoint, the private equity firm, had hired JP Morgan and HSBC to advise on a £700 million sale of LGC. Here is a link:

At the time of writing the Mail on Sunday piece, spokespeople for Bridgepoint and LGC claimed: "there is currently no sales process. Instead LGC has appointed JP Morgan and HSBC to advise on it's mergers & acquisitions pipeline".

Well, that's clearly not the case now!
